Ant-mimicking crab spiders are masters of myrmecomorphy (ant mimicry), evolving to look and behave like ants for both protection and hunting. Unlike many other ant-mimics that use their disguise defensively to avoid predators, these crab spiders are often aggressive mimics that specialise in preying on the very ants they imitate
Amyciaea: Found in Asia and Australia, these spiders mimic Weaver Ants (Oecophylla). They have two dark eyespots on their abdomen that look like an ant’s head when viewed from behind.
