Provespa anomala, known as the Night Hornet, is a unique, nocturnal wasp from Southeast Asia, famous for being the only truly night-active wasp in its subfamily (Vespinae), with large eyes for night vision, brown color, and unique swarm-founding behavior where a queen leaves with many workers to start a new nest, unlike typical hornets. These elusive insects build greyish-brown paper nests from plant fibers and are often attracted to lights at night.
