Cyana is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. Species are well distributed in Africa, Madagascar, China, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Sumatra, Java and Borneo. The genus was erected by Francis Walker in 1854. Wikipedia

Please check this article by NUS, COCOON AND PUPA OF THE MOTH CYANA PERORNATA (WALKER, 1854)

Caterpillar constructs its cage cocoon of setal hairs and suspends itself in a hammock of silk. Hair loss is not complete but extensive. The partially depilated caterpillar rests after cocoon construction and no movement is discernible for a few hours although physiological preparations are clearly occurring invisibly.
Full article please click here Pupal metamorphosis of the moth Cyana coccinea (Moore 1878) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae)

These cage-cocoons represent a fundamental derivation of lepidopteran metamorphosis. Although the use of setal hairs to create protective defences for pupation is not unique to the genus.
